James' background is in environmental design and homebuilding -- coming up as a hands-on master carpenter. He started his own design and construction company in 1975 in College Station, Texas and was originally certified as a Professional Designer by the Texas Institute of Building Design in 1976. In the recession of the late 1980's, James worked as an architectural rep for Acme Brick Company and later as an erosion control sales consultant in New Mexico and southern Colorado, all the while still doing architectural design on the side.
Returning to the Austin area in 1997, he started Casa Design Company, Inc. He is certified as a Professional Building Designer by the National Council of Building Designer Certification and has been a long standing participating member in the Austin Energy Green Building Program. Casa Design Company works with an established and talented professional network of civil, structural, and MEP engineers as well as planning and zoning professionals and land surveyors.
We prefer to build from our own plans and design, but we don't rule out other projects. We pride ourselves on staying on schedule and budget with minimal call-backs when the project is finished. From dirt kicking on-site initial meetings to working with neighborhood associations, from visualization to complete construction documents and oversight we can do it all. As Austin grows, many of our projects over the past few years have been remodeling and in-fill projects and we look for that trend to continue.
